If you've been eyeing Italy for your veterinary studies but weren't thrilled about studying in Italian, this is the news you've been waiting for. The University of Naples Federico II, one of the oldest universities in the world, founded in 1224, has officially announced a brand-new, fully English-taught Veterinary Medicine degree, launching in the 2026–27 academic year.

In Italy, entering medical school in English involves choosing between two entirely distinct academic pathways: the public university system and the network of highly reputable private institutions. Each path operates on fundamentally different admission timelines, test structures, and financial frameworks.

Thinking about studying medicine in Italy but worried about how to fund six years abroad? You're not alone; and the good news is, it's more manageable than you might think.

No matter if a student is getting their student visa, Italian medical care card, or residency permit, chances are they will need to deal with the infamous Italian bureaucracy. Two crucial elements for a successful admission in Italy are passing the IMAT (International Medical Admissions Test) with a high score and preparing all documents well within the strict deadlines. Knowing how to do this might make the difference between success and failure as a medical student.

Do YOU know how to enroll to IMAT 2026?

Planning, theory and lots of practice are key words to a successful preparation for IMAT 2026, and for this reason, choosing the best books for IMAT prep is a pivotal step in your preparation.

One of the most valuable resources in your IMAT preparation is also the most underused: official past papers.
