There are a variety of English-taught medical schools in Italy.

Medschool.it learned this past week about three new state universities in Italy which are considering opening up English medical schools: Turin, Bologna, and Florence. Among the three, Turin and Bologna have publicly stated their intentions to start lessons in October 2017; we at imatschool.com learned about Florence through other sources. The opening of these three schools marks the largest expansion of the English language med school programme in Italy since its inception. The current plan in Turin is to have 70 spots for EU and 30 for non-EU applicants, while Bologna expects 50 EU and 10 non-EU.

The International Medical School of the University of Milan is taking a major step toward attempting to ensure that its graduates will be able to do residencies throughout the entire United States. It is the first English-language med school in Italy to apply for California medical board accreditation.

The Second University of Naples was established on May 12, 1989 after a ruling by the Presidente of the Council of Ministers to downsize the “Federico II” University of Naples. Its first Academic Year (in Italian) started on 1 November 1992.
